Revista Cultura Científica aims to provide timely editorial decisions while maintaining thorough peer review. The timeframes below are operational targets, not guaranteed deadlines or measured averages. Actual processing times depend on manuscript readiness, reviewer availability, revision requirements, and the complexity of the research.
1) Initial Checks and Editorial Assessment
The Editorial Office aims to complete technical checks within 3–5 business days. An initial editorial assessment is normally targeted within 7–10 days of submission. Incomplete submissions may be returned for correction before further assessment.
2) External Peer Review and First Decision
For manuscripts proceeding to external review, reviewer recruitment is targeted within 3–7 days. Invited reviewers are normally given 14–21 days to submit their assessments after accepting the invitation.
The journal aims to communicate a first decision within 4–6 weeks of submission. This may be acceptance, a request for revision, or rejection. A first decision is not a promise of acceptance.
These stages may overlap and should not be added together as fixed deadlines. Additional reviewer invitations or specialist assessments can extend processing time.
3) Author Revisions and Further Assessment
Authors are generally allowed 7–14 days for minor revisions and 21–45 days for major revisions. The decision letter specifies the applicable deadline. Authors who need an extension should contact the Editorial Office before that deadline.
Where further review is required, the target is 7–14 days after resubmission, subject to reviewer availability and the extent of the changes. Additional revision rounds may be necessary, so the total time to acceptance cannot be guaranteed.
4) Production and Online Publication
After acceptance, authors receive instructions concerning the applicable article processing charge and production requirements. Manuscripts undergo copyediting, typesetting, and author proof review.
Under the journal’s continuous publication model, articles are published when production requirements are complete and final proofs are approved. No fixed acceptance-to-publication interval is guaranteed.
5) Publication Charges and Editorial Independence
There is no submission fee. An APC of USD 500 applies to accepted articles, subject to the Article Processing Charges policy. Payment is requested only after final editorial acceptance.
The APC does not purchase expedited review, preferential treatment, or acceptance. Editorial standards remain the same regardless of payment arrangements.
6) Avoiding Delays and Requesting Updates
Authors can help prevent delays by submitting complete files, providing required declarations, answering editorial queries promptly, and explaining revisions in a point-by-point response.
