Publication model: Continuous publication; Annual (one volume containing one issue)

1) Before you submit

Originality and exclusivity

  • Submissions must be original and not under review elsewhere.

  • If your work builds on prior outputs (conference paper, thesis, preprint), disclose this and clearly explain what is new.

Language

  • Manuscripts should be written in clear, professional English (or the language required by the journal, if applicable).

  • If language editing is needed, authors are encouraged to revise before peer review to avoid delays.

Ethical compliance

Where applicable, include:

  • Human research: ethics approval (committee name + approval code) and informed consent statement.

  • Animal research: ethics approval and welfare compliance statement.

  • Sensitive data: describe privacy protection and anonymization practices.

  • Conflicts of interest and funding declarations (see Section 6).

2) What we publish (article types)

You may submit the following:

  1. Original Research Articles – full studies with complete methods and analysis.

  2. Review Articles – systematic, scoping, or narrative reviews with clear methodology.

  3. Reflection / Perspective Articles – critical discussion, conceptual analysis, or policy-relevant insights.

  4. Short Reports / Brief Communications – concise, high-impact findings, methods, or datasets.

  5. Technical / Methodological Notes – new tools, protocols, software, or validated procedures.

  6. Editorials – typically commissioned; proposals may be considered.

There are no strict length limits; however, manuscripts should be focused, well-structured, and readable.

6) Required statements (where applicable)

Authorship and contributions

All listed authors must have made a real scholarly contribution. We recommend adding a brief author contributions note (CRediT-style is welcome), e.g., conceptualization, methodology, analysis, writing, supervision.

Conflicts of interest

Authors must declare any financial or non-financial conflicts. If none, state:

“The authors declare no conflicts of interest.”

Funding

List all sources of funding with grant numbers. If none, state:

“This research received no external funding.”

Data availability

Recommended examples:

  • “Data are available from the corresponding author upon reasonable request.”

  • “Data/code are available at: [repository name] (link/DOI).”

  • “Data are not publicly available due to privacy/ethical restrictions.”

7) References and citations

  • Use any standard citation style (APA, IEEE, Vancouver, Chicago, etc.) at submission as long as it is consistent.

  • Include DOIs (or URLs) whenever available.

  • Ensure every reference is cited in the text and vice versa.

Reference quality checklist

  • Full author list (or consistent truncation rule)

  • Correct journal/book title

  • Year, volume(issue), pages

  • DOI when available

8) Research integrity and publication ethics

Cultura Científica does not accept:

  • plagiarism or self-plagiarism without proper citation,

  • fabricated or falsified data,

  • manipulated images that mislead,

  • duplicate submissions,

  • inappropriate authorship (gift/ghost authorship).

If ethical concerns arise, the editorial team may request clarifications, supporting documentation, or raw data, and may reject or retract as necessary to protect the scholarly record.

9) Peer review and decision process

Review model

  • Single-blind peer review: reviewers know author identities; authors do not know reviewer identities.

Typical timelines (reasonable targets)

  • Initial screening: 3–5 business days

  • Editorial assessment: 7–10 days

  • External review: 14–21 days

  • First decision: typically 4–6 weeks, depending on reviewer availability

  • Minor revision window: 7–14 days

  • Major revision window: 21–45 days

10) After acceptance: copyediting and immediate publication

After acceptance, the manuscript enters production (copyediting + layout + author proof). Publication is immediate once copyediting is complete and final proofs are approved, under the journal’s continuous publication model. The article is then assigned to the journal’s annual volume/issue.

11) Open access and licensing

  • Diamond Open Access: no APCs, no submission fees.

  • License: Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0) — sharing and reuse are permitted with proper attribution.
